Project Description

Friday, 10th of April 2015, Value Plus Association in partnership with Christian Men Association and Penitentiary of Bacau, together initiated the project “A Day with Daddy” for people deprived of their liberty in prison of Bacau. The programme consists of 14 weekly meetings inside the prison and 4 workshops outside the prison, which include the prisoners’ families.

A Day With Daddy

Is a program for the reintegration of prisoners, by applying and consolidating Christian values, involving their children as a strong motivating factor in this process.

Why one day Dad? Because of:

  • Trauma produced by separation
  • Emotional and behavioural disorders
  • Fathers’ roles taken over by others
  • Reduced material resources
  • Lower standard of life
  • Prisoners’ interests during incarceration
  • Process of re-adaptation after release

About this motivational course

There will be small groups of men who are incarcerated – between 12 and 15 per group – meet weekly for 4 months for a motivational theoretical study based on the “The Potential Principle” book by Ed. Cole, followed by the opportunity to apply the  principles learned in the course, in the 4 meetings with families outside the prison.

The Family activities are as following:

1. MAKING THINGS WITH DADDY,
is a meeting where prisoners do craft activities together with their children. The time spent together, working towards a common goal, significantly contributes to strengthening relationships and promoting authentic communication.

2. GOING TO A SHOW WITH DADDY,
is a cultural educational meeting in which prisoners watch a show or an educational film together with their children. After the show, families discuss together the life principles presented.

3.WE CARE,
is a humanitarian activity in which prisoners, together with their children, serve disadvantaged families, or special needs in the community, learning and experiencing together the importance of helping others – and the fulfillment that comes from serving.

4.GOING ON AN OUTING WITH DADDY,
is a practical workshop for bringing prisoners closer to their families, in a relaxed context in nature. It is the final activity of the project.
